My phone is my wallet

I have to say even I thought I would be writing this blog post in a few years’ time. The concept that one’s phone is also one’s wallet has been talked about for a long time and it seemed like it would be even longer still before the technology was out there to get it going.

Now Google have done it again and launched a concept called Google Wallet. So it’s currently only in the USA at the moment but I’m sure it won’t be long to cross the Atlantic.

Google Wallet allows you to turn your mobile phone into a wallet by simply tapping your phone in stores to pay for items at the till. You can also redeem vouchers and promotions when purchasing, ensuring you get the discounts you are entitled to. The same Google Wallet account lets you purchase things online too which means you do not need multiple profiles such as Paypal, Amazon, etc., all storing your card details.

One of the best features of Google Wallet is that it is locked by a PIN so only you can use it, unlike your physical wallet which anyone can open!

It seems like it won’t be long before we will not need to worry about not having the correct loose change when we using a taxi.
